Administrator Guide

The Administrator Guide describes how to install and configure the components of the Job Server infrastructure on the Server Host for the HPC use case. For a more high-level overview of the Job Server architecture, components, and use cases, refer to the Architecture Overview.

The Schrödinger Job Server infrastructure enables users of the Schrödinger Suite to submit scientific workflows (“jobs”) to local and remote compute resources.

The main differentiating features compared to the legacy Job Control system are:

  • support for managing thousands of jobs per user
  • being able to detach the Submission System from the network after job submission
  • support for modern operating system features (e.g., cgroups)
  • encryption of all data transfer

Deploy and configure jobserver alongside your legacy job control infrastructure to ensure minimal disruption. Activate it on a per-user basis or for all users when you're prepared. Learn more about Centralization of Job Server's Host Entry Configuration.
