Property Selection
Property selection tools are available in a number of panels, and also in dialog boxes whose purpose is to choose properties (usually named Choose Property). There are two sets of property selection tools: one for selecting a single property, and one for selecting multiple properties.
Both selectors have common filtering and sorting features:
- Filter text box
-
Filter the contents of the property list so that only the items that match the expression in the text box anywhere in the property name are displayed. You can use the wildcard characters
*for zero or more characters and?for a single character, and square brackets to enclose a range of characters. The filtering is done as soon as you type in the text box. To remove the filter, click the clear button
. - Settings button
-
This button opens a menu with sorting and subset items. You can choose sort the list in one of two ways: Alphabetical or Project table order, and you can filter the properties shown in the list to those in the chosen subset. The subsets include the defined property families and two other items, All primary, and Shown (the properties that are shown in the Project Table). If you choose one of the subsets, it is displayed below the filter text box, with a close button
so you can remove the subset filter.
Single Property Selector
The tool for selection of a single property consists of a noneditable text box that displays the property name, and a button that opens the selector:
The single selector has the following features, in addition to the filtering text box and settings button:
- Property list
-
List of properties for selection. When you choose a property, the selector closes and the property name is shown in the noneditable text box.
Multiple Property Selector
The tool for selection of multiple properties has similar features to the single property selector, but is usually displayed in the panel or a separate dialog box, rather than as a popup.
The multiple selector has the following features, in addition to the filtering text box and settings button:
- Property list
-
List of properties for selection. You can use the standard click, control-click and shift-click actions to select multiple properties. The selected properties are highlighted in the list. If you filter the list, any properties that are already selected that do not match the filter are listed below a separator in the list, with the filtered list above.
- Select button menu
-
This menu provides a way of selecting classes of properties. The available menu items vary according to the action to be taken, and can include the following:
- All in Project—select all properties in the project.
- All Displayed in Table—select all properties that are visible (i.e. not hidden) in the Project Table.
- All in Filtered List—select all properties that pass the filter set up with the filtering tool.
- All Empty—select all properties that do not have any values. Not available from Clear Property Values Dialog Box.
- Unit Cell Properties—select all unit cell properties. Only available from Clear Property Values Dialog Box.
- Invert Selection—invert the property selection by selecting those that aren't currently selected, and deselecting those that are.
- Clear Selection—clear the property selection.
