Locking Entries

If you do not want entries to be changed or deleted, you can lock them by selecting them and choosing Table → Lock (set non-editable). A padlock icon is placed next to the row number. Locking entries means that the structure and the properties as stored in the project cannot be changed or deleted until you unlock them with Table → Unlock (set editable) : you are prompted to unlock the entry or discard the changes if you try. You can also use the Entry shortcut menu to lock and unlock entries.

  • When locked entries are included in the Workspace, a banner is displayed to notify you of their presence. You can unlock them by clicking Unlock in the banner. The banner goes away after a short delay.

  • Atoms in a locked entry cannot be selected, because actions are not allowed on these entries, except in special modes like measurement. The pointer icon changes to a padlock, to indicate that it's in a locked entry and can't be picked:

This also means that locked entries cannot be modified in the Workspace.

  • Locked entries are disabled in the Structure Hierarchy, but you can still double-click on an item in the hierarchy to zoom in on it in the Workspace. Double-clicking the lock icon unlocks the entry.

  • Attempting to delete a locked entry will not delete structures or properties, but will delete associated data.

  • Locked entries can be sorted or moved around in the Project Table, because the position in the Project Table (row number) is not a property of the entry.

  • Jobs run from a locked entry with Replace as the incorporation mode will not replace structures or add properties, but can add surfaces. The job is marked as incorporated even though the structure and properties are not updated.
