Edit Patterns Dialog Box
Add, edit, or delete saved PROSITE patterns, for use in matching residues in sequence.
To open this dialog box, choose Select → Pattern-Matching Residues → Manage Saved Patterns, or click the Saved Patterns button
in the Find / Fetch tool set and choose Manage Saved Patterns.

This table lists the PROSITE patterns. You can double-click in a cell to edit the information; you can select multiple rows to delete patterns with Delete Selected Rows.
Pattern Name Name that identifies the pattern. The name is used on the Select → Pattern-Matching Residues menu and on the Saved Patterns button menu in the Find / Fetch tool set. 
Definition Extended PROSITE pattern, according to the syntax given below the table. Hotspot Residue index in the PROSITE pattern that should be selected when the pattern is found. This might, for example, be the site at which a reaction takes place. This feature is ignored by the MSV but is used in other applications that rely on the MSV (notably BioLuminate). Color Color used to label the matches to the pattern. Double-clicking opens a color selector, to choose the color. The default color comes from a list of distinct colors, which are repeated after the last color is used. - PROSITE syntax description

This scrollable text area gives a description, with examples, of the extended PROSITE syntax used to construct patterns for matching residues in sequences.
- Add New Pattern button

Add a row to the table for the definition of a new pattern, with defaults for each cell. The new pattern is available on the pattern matching menus (Select → Pattern-Matching Residues menu, Saved Patterns button menu) when you click OK.
- Delete Selected Rows button

Delete the selected patterns from the table. Patterns cannot be restored, so if you deleted one and want to use it again, you will have to re-enter it.
