View or Edit Chart Panel - Scatterplot

You can specify multiple properties, one for the x axis, one for the y axis, one for coloring the points by, one to set the size of the points. Color by and Size by are optional, and can be shown or hidden by right-clicking on their buttons, or using the + Attribute link at the top of the Properties section.

Dataset table

Show the entry title and ID for each entry included in the chart for the data tab that is visible, along with the x and y axis propery values.

Lines tools

Specify characteristics of the plotted lines.

Between data points option and button: Plot lines between the data points, with characteristics chosen using the formatting button.
Best fit option and text box: Plot the line of best fit. The equation of the line is shown in the text box along with the R² value.
Diagonal with slope option and menu: Display the line passing through the origin with the slope chosen from the menu (+1 or −1), showing perfect correlation or anticorrelation. This option is likely only useful if the data are sufficiently highly correlated.

Show Table or Show Settings link

Show the data table in the section below, if chart settings are shown, or show the chart settings if the data table is shown.

Plot tools

Make settings for the annotation of the plot.

Axis Settings link: Make settings for the x and y axes. Opens the Change Axis Settings Dialog Box.
Tooltips link: Choose information to be included in the tooltip that is shown when the pointer is over a plot point. Opens the Configure Data Tooltips dialog box, where you can choose to show the entry title, the 2d structure, the property values for x, y, color, and size, and choose another property to display its value.
Legend option and menus: Select this option to display a legend for the data sets in the chart, and choose the layout and location for the legend.
Title option and text box: Selct this option to add a title at the top of the chart, and enter the title text in the text box.

Chart area

This area displays the chart. The button to the top right expands the chart area to the full size of the panel and hides the rest of the controls, or collapses it again to display the controls.

Hovering on a point displays a popup with the entry title, the 2d structure for the entry, and the x and y properties and values for the point.

Right-clicking on a point selects it if it is not selected, and displays a menu with actions that can be performed on the point. If it is one of multiple selected points, the menu items apply to the selected points.

Selected point context menu

The context menu for the selected points has the following items:

Select in Project Table—select the entries in the Project Table/Entry List for the selected points, and deselect all others. This item is unavailable if the Project Table selection is the same as the entries for the selected points in the chart.
Include in Workspace—replace the contents of the Workspace with the entries for the selected points. This item is unavailable if the entries in the Workspace are the same as the entries for the selected points in the chart.
Label with Property Values—label the selected points with their property values. The submenu allows you to choose the x or the y property value, or both, or remove the labels.
Expand to Other Datasets—expand the selection entries from the current dataset to all the other datasets in the chart, so that the selected entries are the same for all datasets. This replaces any previous selection of entries by selection of points.
Zoom to Region—Zoom the chart in to the region occupied by the selected points.
Remove Entry from Chart—remove the entries for the selected points from the chart. This allows you to change the entries whose data are plotted.

Export button menu

Export the chart as an image (PNG or TIFF) or save the chart data to a CSV file. Opens a file selector so you can browse to a location and name the file.

Save as New button

Save the chart as a new chart to the project. Opens a dialog box in which you can name the new chart.

Save button

Save the changes made in the current chart to the project.

Cancel button

Cancel the changes made to the chart. The Close button changes to Cancel when you make changes to the chart.

Data type option (Numeric is the default)

Numeric:Numeric datasets facilitate quantitative analysis by allowing users to define data bins via specific counts or value increments. Users can manually override axis ranges and apply logarithmic scales to better visualize exponential data trends.

Boolean: Boolean datasets group data into binary categories such as "True/False" or "True/False/Unset". These settings simplify the interface by removing X-axis range and decimal options, focusing instead on how to handle "Unset" values.

String: String datasets categorize data based on unique text labels, such as names or titles, found within the table. Because bins are automatically defined by unique string values, traditional binning and X-axis range configurations are disabled.

Multiple entry sets option

Use separate entry sets for each dataset in the histogram instead of a single shared set. When enabled, each dataset is assigned an entry set (Group 1, Group 2, etc.) with options to load or reload entries independently. Entry set names are used as legend labels, and changes update the plotted data accordingly.

+Dataset button

Adds a new dataset to the histogram. Each new dataset is assigned a new entry set (Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, and so on). Each entry set can be loaded or reloaded independently.

Properties tools

Specify the properties to be included in the chart.

Data menu: Selects the property to plot. The menu lists available properties from the Project Table, including built-in fields (such as Entry ID) and computed or imported properties. The selected property determines the values used to generate the chart.

Filter table option Provides a searchable list of available properties. A settings menu (gear icon) lets you control sorting and filter which properties are shown.

Click the paintbrush to choose the color for the data.

Bin Settings link: Choose a method for defining the data bins. Opens the Histogram Bin Settings Dialog Box.
