Project Entries

An entry is the place in the project that stores a collection of atoms. The entry consists of zero or more molecules (structures) grouped together and assigned an entry ID and a title. Molecules must be entirely within a single entry: bonds may NOT span entries. An entry can be empty.

There is one entry per row in the Project Table. The entry ID and the title are included as columns in the table. The title can be changed, but the entry ID cannot be changed, as it is the unique identifier for the entry that is used by Maestro to track the entry.

Entries are created automatically when you import structures or when the results of jobs are incorporated into the project. Entries can also be created manually.

Entries can be modified by including them in the Workspace and then making changes. Maestro maintains an association between the included entries in the project and their respective Workspace atoms, in order to track changes made in the Workspace. By default, changes made to the entries in the Workspace are saved back to the project. You can choose not to have changes saved back into the project automatically: saving of Workspace changes is controlled by a preference.

You can protect entries against changes by "locking" them. A locked entry cannot be changed until you unlock the entry. In the Project Table, a locked entry is indicated by a padlock icon in the Row column. When a locked entry is included in the Workspace, a banner is displayed that indicates the presence of locked entries. Atoms in locked entries cannot be picked for actions, except in special modes that do not alter the entry.

Entries are listed in both the Project Table Panel and the Entry List in the Entry List / Structure Hierarchy panel. These two lists are always synchronized.

There are a variety of actions that you can take on project entries, described in these topics:

To take an action on one or more entries, select them in the table first. You can then use the Table menu to act on the entries themselves, or the Data menu to act on the values of the entry properties. You can also right-click in the table on the entries and use the shortcut menu.
